Not only that, but the menus are very detailed. Not only does it tell you whats playing, it tells you the bit-rate, the volume, battery power remaining, song time, etc. The screen has several backlit colors to choose from, or you can set it to switch with every button press. This one doesn't have a clip, so I use a mini-carabiner and a short cord on the loop hole. I also selected this player because it uses a AAA battery so when the battery dies I don't have to wait to charge it, just replace it or use another pre-charged AAA battery.Pros: Great Screen, No program required, thumb drive, great size, AAA battery, button lock, fm radioCons: noneAwesome. Tells you everything you would want to know.
Not only does it do all that, but it is also a 4gb thumb drive so you don't need a program to update your mp3s or store any sort of information. I wanted a small mp3 player to clip to my shorts since many of my shorts don't have pockets. I didn't want to get one without a screen because I want to know whats playing. There is also a "mixer" which is basically a scroll through of different preset mixed sound settings.
I suggest rechargeable batteries. It is great for my workouts. But I guess they all stretch the truth (lie) about this. I am really enjoying my Coby MP3 player. It is very easy to use, light weight, and inexpensive. I would give it a 5 star but it should have a clip so you could attach it to clothing and it is NOT a 4GB memory, more like 3.5.
Coby MP305-4G MP3 Player with 4 GB Flash Memory FM Radio, USB Drive and LCD - Black
Works well and I am pleased with it, although it is no substitute for an Ipod or Zune. BTW it is a good idea to be looking into rechargeable batteries, as the regular AAA's do not last that long. The radio does no work that well and the buttons can get slightly stuck sometimes. I have had it for about a month now and it is still working fine. The battery (AAA) lasts for a while (10-14 hours) if the back light is not being used. This is a pretty good mp3 player. One of the problems though is that this mp3 player has no way of splitting up the songs into artist or song titles it just splits them up between albums (but this might be because of the way I put them onto the player. But, this was only about $30 and came quickly in the mail.
Last year My 11 year old had a different Coby and LOVED it. I returned this Coby after a day, but I would definitely try another Coby. I purchased the Coby for my 8 year old son. The configuration of this model was different and all of us struggled with simply turning it on---just not as user friendly as the other Coby model.
